in search of america

finally got to michigan!!! i'm sitting in this western themed indoor waterpark where vendors check in. i had to get my laptop out because i think that medschools finally got my transcripts so i need to work on my secondary application. BUT more importantly, my past few days of travels:
The first night, we camped at West Branch State Park in Ohio and there were about 80bajillion stars and a lot of satellites. and last night, it rained and we stopped at some random park in michigan to sleep so i slept in the car. because who wants to pitch a tent in the rain?
oh and before i go any further, i have to confess that today i really, really, really wanted coffee so i got coffee at a gas station in a styrafoam cup and i felt really guilty and then karma came back to me because i spilled it all over the side of the car (and it tasted like horses anyways) so OFFICIALLY no more of that.
yesterday, i wrote a poem called 'love letter that would be even truer if we had more time to touch' but i think that i'm going to hold off on posting that one. and just before, in the car, we listened to the raconteurs whom i had never heard before and it was really wonderful. ALSO i looked for good postcards in ohio but the only one that i liked was of this tabacco barn thing? i don't know. it was kind of disappointing, especially because they're oversize postcards. and the only thing worse than oversize postcards is no postcards at all so i guess i'll have to deal. BY THE WAY. (last thought) i went to get my hair cut the other day and they CHOPPED IT ALL OFF! (kind of). how depressing. i'm hoping that all of this fresh michigan air will put it into super-growth mode.
last thought: theres a giant blue part of a water slide swerving above my head but everywhere else there are horses and little wooden tables and signs that say things like "spaghetti western"

alright im going to go get work done because this is my last chance to be productive in prob a week or so. and if you guys are at rothbury, come to my lemonade stand!

AGHH!!! actually. one last thing. so i'm reading 'travels with charley:: in search of america' by steinbeck (which really reminds me of carl) and is a really good american road trip book (i think that i;m going to later make a list of best roadtrip books) but anyways, he's talking about florida and other places that are always sunny and wonderful and why that isnt enough and he says:

For how can one know color in perpetual green, and what good is warmth without cold to give it sweetness?

and i like that

first stop michigan

so i decided to start a blog but i never got around to it. and NOW i'm leaving for michigan at 11. i was supposed to leave an hour ago but we're running late, etc. so i found myself with an extra hour of time to spare. basically, in about an hour, i'm getting in a car full of people i don't know and i'm going aroundd to different music festival selling lemonade (i'm so freaking excited) with
justsqueezedjuice.com and this is an attempt to document my trip.

i'm also really excited because for the past 2months or so i've just been in post-india mode, like in this kind of in between waiting stage? i applied to medical schools and was taking a class and i felt like i wasnt really DOING anything. which i can't handle . i explained to it somebody as
i feel like my life is this grand trip (like on a train or something) and i need to make stops and get out and Feel how things are outside of the confines of the train. and being home for the past couple of months just felt like i was sitting inside and just kind of wanting the next exciting thing to happen. basically, i was looking for my next adventure and this next big adventure involves some Serious lemonade selling.

okay so i don't really know how this thing works? i guess that was my first post. sooooo long east brunswick, new jersey. see you soon and bye everyone!
